Dr. Jim Lai

Dr. Jim Lai is our Advisory Practice Leader of Corporate Advisory.

• Dr. Jim Lai holds an MBA and PhD in Accounting and Finance from Bayes Business School, City, University of London.
• Dr. Jim Lai had undertaken the role as advisor in a variety of corporate and debt restructuring exercises involving mergers,  acquisitions, divestments, fund-raising and reverse takeovers of  public listed companies.

Experience

Dr. Jim Lai’s previous experiences include the following:

• Conducted and led teams to undertake business valuations and deal management on divestment of equity interests, fund-raising as well corporate debt restructuring for private, state-owned enterprises & listed entities;
• Undertaken role as expert witness in proceedings involving breach of trust, misappropriation, fraud and contentious financial valuation;
• Provided interim management services to restructure and turn around listed companies in the construction, information technology, property management and paper packaging sector;
• Conducted and led teams to undertake corporate and debt restructuring services of several large diversified listed groups;
• Conducted and led a team to undertake Independent Financial Advisor and Monitoring Accountant for a group of banks concerning a telecommunication Group;
• Conducted and led teams to undertake privatisation of state-owned enterprises in the transportation sector;
• Conducted and led teams to undertake strategic reviews and restructuring of SMEs and Government owned entities;
• Conducted and led teams to undertake investigative audits concerning alleged frauds and for dispute resolutions;
• Acting as a court appointed liquidator over the affairs of a large real estate company wound-up voluntarily; and
• Appointed by secured creditors as Receiver and Manager of a prominent retail and office development.
