This is a merger of two firms with different strengths, different shortcomings, different legacies, but very common ideals; much like the hallmarks of a good marriage.

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 October 2018 – Grant Thornton MSW (formerly known as M.S. Wong & Co.), our new Johor Bahru office celebrated its grand opening last week.

The grand opening event was commemorated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Dato’ NK Jasani, Country Managing Partner of Grant Thornton Malaysia, Desmond Tan, Senior Partner of Grant Thornton Malaysia and Wong Wen Tak, Managing Partner of Grant Thornton MSW, while witnessed by close to 80 guests comprising of Senior Partners from Grant Thornton Malaysia, Partners from Grant Thornton Singapore and also valued clients from the region.

“Today’s grand opening celebration of the Grant Thornton MSW office signifies the extended presence of Grant Thornton in the Southern region. We are proud to have Grant Thornton MSW joining the Grant Thornton global network, one of the major global accounting organisations recognised by capital markets, regulators and international standards-setting bodies,” said Dato NK Jasani, Country Managing Partner of Grant Thornton Malaysia.

“This is a merger of two firms with different strengths, different shortcomings, different legacies, but very common ideals; much like the hallmarks of a good marriage.

“We are able to gain new capabilities and maximise each other’s local and international strengths to have a stronger resource base in Johor.

“Moving forward, Grant Thornton MSW will be one of the largest firms in Johor, capable of competing with the Big 4; and most importantly, together, we can deliver much better solutions and value to our clients, said Wong Wen Tak, Managing Partner of Grant Thornton MSW.

Grant Thornton MSW is the result of a merger between Grant Thornton Malaysia’s Johor Bahru office and M.S. Wong & Co. that took place on 1st September 2018. Today, Grant Thornton MSW possess a team of more than 80 personnel, making Grant Thornton one of the largest in audit, tax and advisory in Johor Bahru.

The firm provides Statutory Audit, Reporting Accountants, IPO and Corporate Advisory services as well as indirect tax, SST, GST closure and Transfer Pricing.

The firm is currently led by Mr. Wong Wen Tak, Managing Partner of Grant Thornton MSW and co-managed by Mr. Desmond Tan, Senior Partner of Grant Thornton Malaysia. The firm is also supported by En. Mohd Heizrin, Audit Partner of Grant Thornton Malaysia and Ms. Yau Chew Yin, Tax Executive Director of Grant Thornton MSW.
