Grant Thornton celebrates key milestones

SJ Grant Thornton is now known as Grant Thornton Malaysia with over 700 people strong. New global CEO Peter Bodin takes office, global revenue pass USD5 billion and network grows to 50,000 people

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 January 2018 - Effective 1st January 2018, SJ Grant Thornton is known as Grant Thornton Malaysia.

Grant Thornton Malaysia is a member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd (GTIL) and we have been progressing expeditiously in every aspect ever since our establishment in 1974. Today, we are one of the leading audit, tax and advisory firms in Malaysia, providing assurance, tax, public listing, corporate finance, restructuring and other specialist services to public listed and private companies.

With over 700 people, Grant Thornton Malaysia currently provides services from offices in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuantan and Cambodia.

Grant Thornton Malaysia’s plays a leading role in having key involvements in leading professional institutions. Dato’ NK Jasani, our Country Managing Partner is the Vice-President of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), elected on 24 August 2017. He was elected as MIA Council member, for a second term, on 19 September 2015.

Besides that, Ms Seah Siew Yun, our National Tax Practice Leader has been elected as the President of the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM) during CTIM’s 25th AGM on 17 June 2017. Ms Seah has been a council member of CTIM since July 2009 with two years as the Deputy President before her role as President.

New global CEO Peter Bodin takes office at Grant Thornton International Ltd (GTIL) 

In London, Grant Thornton begins a new chapter as Peter Bodin takes office as CEO of Grant Thornton International Ltd (GTIL) and the global headquarters relocate to the iconic ‘Walkie Talkie’ building (20 Fenchurch Street) in the City of London.

Peter Bodin said: “Delivering record global revenues of USD5bn and reaching 50,000 people worldwide is a great achievement, thanks to the skill, hard work and dedication of our people. We now have a strong platform to create the next generation professional services organisation we want to become. I am honoured and excited to lead Grant Thornton as we begin our next chapter.”

He added: “I have always believed sustainable business success is built on having the right leadership, people and culture. My role now is to create an environment that enables Grant Thornton member firms and their people to innovate and collaborate globally. We want to build a brand that stands out in the market and we will have a resolute focus on digital transformation – for our own business and for our clients around the world.

Peter Bodin takes on the role of global CEO after 16 years leading Grant Thornton Sweden, during which time the Swedish firm’s revenues more than trebled to over SEK1.3bn. He previously served as a member of GTIL’s Board of Governors from 2003 to 2016.
